WHEAT SEED (<i>TRITICUM AESTIVUM</i> L.) RADIOCARBON CONCENTRATION OVER THE LAST 75 YEARS

چکیده

ABSTRACT Here we report radiocarbon measurements made on wheat seed tissue ( Triticum aestivum L.; winter or spring type growth habit), from the archive of IPK Gatersleben, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany, which was harvested between 1946 and 2020. The results give an overview 75 years concentration evolution in agricultural plant products. concentrations follow known pre- post-bomb records, such as atmospheric Jungfraujoch, Schauinsland, NH1 datasets. Based a Northern Hemisphere growing period April to July, Gatersleben indicates incorporation fossil carbon about 1% with respect high alpine, clean-air CO 2 Jungfraujoch station 1987 2019. We propose use record reference forensic investigations, age estimation paper by analyzing starch used manufacture. Additionally, advantage reported here lies its extensibility adding new analyses future harvests.

The 2400-year cycle in atmospheric radiocarbon concentration: bispectrum of 14C data over the last 8000 years

We have carried out power spectrum, time-spectrum and bispectrum analyses of the long-term series of the radiocarbon concentrations deduced from measurements of the radiocarbon content in tree rings for the last 8000 years. Classical harmonic analysis of this time series shows a number of periods: 2400, 940, 710, 570, 500, 420, 360, 230, 210 and 190 years. A principle feature of the time series...

Evidence of decreasing mineral density in wheat grain over the last 160 years.

Wheat is an important source of minerals such as iron, zinc, copper and magnesium in the UK diet. The dietary intake of these nutrients has fallen in recent years because of a combination of reduced energy requirements associated with sedentary lifestyles and changes in dietary patterns associated with lower micronutrient density in the diet. Recent publications using data from food composition...

Radiation accidents over the last 60 years.

Since the end of the Second World War, industrial and medical uses of radiation have been considerably increasing. Accidental overexposures of persons, in either the occupational or public field, have caused deaths and severe injuries and complications. The rate of severe accidents seems to increase with time, especially those involving the public; in addition, accidents are often not immediate...

History of carbonate ion concentration over the last 100 million years

Instead of having been more or less constant, as once assumed, it is now apparent that the major ion chemistry of the oceans has varied substantially over time. For instance, independent lines of evidence suggest that calcium concentration ([Ca ]) has approximately halved and magnesium concentration ([Mg ]) approximately doubled over the last 100 million years. On the other hand, the calcite co...
